When she's not busy working on her Hollywood career, Andrea Barber enjoys spending quality time with her two kids, Tate and Felicity, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Jeremy Rytky. While Andrea has built a successful career in the entertainment industry, her son Tate, who's now 16, doesn't seem overly impressed with her fame. Interestingly, Andrea has caught Tate watching her Netflix show, Fuller House, when he thought no one was looking. It turns out he's a closet fan!
In a candid interview with People, Andrea revealed her thoughts on her son's attitude toward her career. “He won’t admit that it’s cool,” Andrea laughed. “His friends all think it’s great, but he’s mortified by anything I do onscreen or offscreen. However, I’ve caught him in his room binge-watching the show. He’s a closet fan.” It seems like Tate, despite his teenage coolness, secretly enjoys seeing his mom’s work on the screen.
Unlike her older brother, Felicity isn’t shy about her love for Fuller House. Andrea recalled a heartwarming moment when she took her daughter to a photo shoot with Candace Cameron-Bure. “My daughter was so excited to come here today and to meet Candace,” Andrea shared with Us Weekly in September 2014. “I told her, ‘You’ve already met Candace,’ but she didn’t care. This was the first time she had seen Candace since becoming a fan of the show. She was so thrilled.” Felicity clearly takes pride in her mom’s career.

When Felicity was younger, she made a memorable guest appearance on Fuller House alongside Jodie Sweetin’s daughter, Zoie. Reflecting on the experience, Jodie told People in December 2016, “To have our daughters on the same show that we were on when we were their age—it was this really surreal moment. I remember thinking, ‘I never would’ve guessed that someday my kids would be part of the next chapter of this series.’” Andrea echoed similar sentiments, adding, “It gave me so much respect for my mom and what she did for me. Being a mom and supporting your child’s acting career is a lot of work, and it’s definitely not easy.”
Andrea has always been a devoted parent who would do anything for her kids. After stepping away from Hollywood in 1995, she dedicated herself entirely to raising Tate and Felicity. “I was very content to pursue other interests in my life,” Andrea explained to The Hollywood Reporter. “When I had kids, I became a stay-at-home mom for several years when they were babies and toddlers. It was one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life.” Clearly, Andrea prioritized her family over her career during those early years.
Things changed when Fuller House creator Jeff Franklin invited Andrea to reprise her role as Kimmy on the show. Andrea described the timing as “perfect” because her kids were entering elementary school, and she felt ready to return to work. “It has worked out fantastically for me personally,” she said. “The timing couldn’t have been better. Everything has fallen into place.” Andrea’s return to acting allowed her to balance her professional life with her responsibilities as a mother.
