And just when we thought the story was over, HBO Max brought us And Just Like That…, a reboot that premiered in December 2021. A New Chapter Without Samantha

The 10-episode reboot picks up where the original left off, focusing on Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Charlotte (Kristin Davis) as they navigate life’s ups and downs in their 50s. But here's the thing—Kim Cattrall's Samantha Jones isn’t part of the story anymore. Fans were understandably curious, especially since Kim has been pretty vocal about her feelings toward the series and her former co-star, Sarah. Back in July 2019, Kim told MailOnline that she wasn’t interested in revisiting the world of Sex and the City. “Never. It’s a no from me,” she said. “You learn lessons in life, and my lesson is to do work with good people and try to make it fun.”

Public Feud or Just Misunderstood?

It’s no secret that Kim and Sarah haven’t exactly been on the best terms. Things got even more heated in February 2018 when Kim publicly responded to Sarah on Instagram after Sarah offered condolences for the passing of Kim’s brother, Chris. Kim didn’t hold back, writing, “Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already). You are not my family. You are not my friend.” She continued, “So, I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”

Now, you might be wondering if Kim’s absence from the reboot had anything to do with this tension. In an Instagram Q&A session, Sarah addressed the elephant in the room. “No. I don’t dislike her. I’ve never said that. Never would,” Sarah explained. “Samantha isn’t part of this story. But she will always be part of us. No matter where we are or what we do.” It’s a heartfelt response that shows Sarah’s willingness to let go of any past drama and focus on the legacy they built together.
