Hey there, Virgin River fans! You won’t believe what’s coming your way with Season 7. The much-loved Netflix series is officially heading back for another season, and the details are slowly starting to unfold. If you’re anything like me, you’re probably on the edge of your seat wondering what’s next for Jack and Mel. Well, hold onto your hats because it’s going to be a wild ride!
Back in October 2024, the news we’d all been waiting for finally broke: Virgin River was officially renewed for Season 7. Showrunner Patrick Sean Smith confirmed that this next season is going to pick up right where we left off with the much-anticipated wedding of Jack and Mel. If you’re thinking, “Finally, these two lovebirds are tying the knot,” you’re not alone!
Patrick Sean Smith shared his excitement, saying, “I think we’ve only just begun to see Mel and Jack function as a married couple, which is thrilling.” This means we’re going to get an inside look at what life looks like for these two as they navigate the ups and downs of married life. And let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a good honeymoon phase? But of course, life on the farm isn’t all sunshine and roses. There will be challenges, and that’s where the drama kicks in.

Patrick also reassured fans that Jack and Mel’s relationship is rock-solid. He said, “I can’t imagine creating a scenario where you think Mel and Jack are going to break up. It forces us to dig a little deeper into what other issues can arise in their relationship. But don’t worry, their love isn’t going anywhere.”
He continued, “Alex and Martin play those moments so beautifully. It’s all about emotional stakes rather than the ‘will they, won’t they’ drama. We’re keeping the romance lens firmly in place.” So, you can expect plenty of heartfelt moments, but with a few twists along the way.
Get ready to meet some fresh faces in Season 7! Patrick revealed that new characters are set to join the Virgin River family, and they’re sure to shake things up. One of the new additions is Clay, played by Cody Kearsley. Clay is described as a tough, athletic guy who commands attention whenever he walks into a room. He’s got a fascinating backstory too—Clay grew up in foster care with his younger sister, whom he hasn’t seen since he was a teenager. He’s been searching for her ever since, and his arrival in Virgin River might just hold some answers.
Clay isn’t the only newcomer. Sara Canning will be joining the cast as Victoria, an ex-cop who was shot in the line of duty. Now, she works for the state medical board as an investigator. Victoria comes to Virgin River to look into Doc’s practice, but things might get a little complicated when she runs into an old friend—or perhaps someone she’d like to pursue something more with. Talk about adding some intrigue to the mix!
On the flip side, fans of Cameron Hayek, played by Mark Ghanimé, might be a little disappointed. Unfortunately, he won’t be returning as a series regular. Patrick shared, “Cameron will always be part of our world, and I would love to see his character come back again. He won’t be a series regular in Season 7, but I love Mark, and I love the character, so when opportunity presents itself, I’d love to have him back.”
Martin Henderson, the man behind the rugged charm of Jack, shared the exciting news that filming had begun for Season 7 via an Instagram post in March 2025. “Season 7 of #virginriver!!!! Day 1 – here we go!!!! So stoked to be back at it doing what I love for all of you who love the show,” he wrote. He also thanked Netflix for their support and the fans for their continued love, calling it an honor to create such a heartfelt show.

Alexandra Breckenridge, who plays the ever-lovable Mel, also gave fans a sneak peek on Instagram. In a video from the set, she panned the camera around a cozy cabin, teasing, “Where do you guys think we are? We must be in the cabin. What do you think is happening in the cabin?”
As of now, no official premiere date has been announced, but keep your eyes peeled because it’s coming sooner than you think!
