It’s a new chapter for Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos as they gear up to move Live With Kelly and Mark to a shiny new studio. But as they pack up, the married duo decided it was only fitting to bring along a couple of items that hold a special place in their hearts. These aren’t just any old objects; they’re pieces that symbolize the memories they’ve created over the years.
In a lighthearted TikTok video shared by People on April 2, the dynamic duo revealed what they’d be taking with them. Mark, ever the jokester, pointed down to a massive golden retriever statue sitting at his feet. “Sammy the dog,” he quipped. “I’ve had my eyes on him since day one.”
Kelly chimed in with a laugh, adding, “Sammy’s been here since 1997, by the way. I should point that out. This dog is the same age as our son Michael. And they both look really good for their age.” It’s clear that Sammy has been more than just a piece of decor—he’s a silent witness to the countless moments that have unfolded in the old studio.

For Kelly, the move also meant finding the perfect spot for her Disney Legend award. “The reason I’m bringing this with me downtown is because that building is so sparkly and Disneyfied, I feel like this is on brand,” she explained. “I feel like it’s a good use of this.”
But there’s more to it than just aesthetics. “Also, I feel like in my house, it feels very showy and I don’t want to show off my accolades,” she admitted. “Plus, I know one of my kids will pinch this. So it’s going in a safe place in a sparkling new studio.”
The new studio is nestled in the heart of the Walt Disney Company’s new headquarters in NYC, a location that feels fitting for the show’s Disneyfied spirit. As Kelly and Mark said their emotional goodbyes to the old Upper West Side studio on the April 1 episode, it was clear that this wasn’t just any workspace—it was a home filled with memories.
“Our kids grew up here,” Mark told People. “They’d come visit mom here a lot—they were always backstage, even when they were babies.” The couple, who share children Michael, 27, Lola, 23, and Joaquin, 22, have deep sentimental ties to their old studio.
Kelly first stepped into the cohost role at Live in 2001, and Mark officially joined her in 2023 after Ryan Seacrest announced he was leaving the show. “They came to work with me every day until they went to school,” Kelly reminisced. “They would go to All My Children with me, they would come here with me... we meant it when we say they grew up in this building, in these four walls.”
“You have to remember, I had my kids back in a time when maternity leave wasn’t really a thing; we didn’t really know how to negotiate that or navigate that,” Kelly reflected. “But the good news is you could bring your kids to work with you. And because they’re very mindful of our hours here—as it is a live morning television show—I was able to be a full-time working woman and a full-time mother simultaneously, which is a very rare thing and not something I take for granted at all.”

Mark echoed her sentiments, noting how close the kids are to the people who work at Live. “We’re a family at Live, and growing up, those were some of the people our kids were closest to,” he said.
