Who knew that chance encounter would lead to a lifetime of love and family? “It was love at first sight — well, maybe at the end of the first night,” Robin once shared with Closer in April 2018. “But I actually knew that first evening I sat and visited with him that he was The One.”

Fast forward to their marriage, and the couple welcomed their first child, Jay McGraw, in 1979. Their second child, Jordan McGraw, arrived in 1986. Jay McGraw's Family

Jay McGraw found love with Erica Dahm, and the two tied the knot in 2006. Their family quickly grew when they welcomed daughter Avery in 2010, followed by son London in 2011. “They live nearby, so we like to spend a lot of time with them,” Dr. Phil told Closer in October 2016, highlighting just how important family time is to him and Robin.

For Dr. Phil, being a grandfather is about more than just spoiling the kids—it’s about instilling values and leading by example. “Jay’s a great dad, and I tried to lead by example by showing him [the importance of] investing time in your kids,” he said. Dr. Phil is a big believer in the power of being present, whether it’s coaching basketball for 14 years or never missing a game with his boys. “Robin and I never missed a game!” he proudly shared.

Jay is incredibly grateful for everything his dad has taught him about fatherhood. “I know for a fact that I wouldn’t be where I am, or who I am if it weren’t for my dad. He sets the bar very high,” Jay said. “People say he’s very tough, but if you really pay attention, he’s equally as supportive and he’s always got a good answer that makes sense.”

Dr. Phil’s youngest son, Jordan McGraw, found love with Morgan Stewart, and the two exchanged vows in 2020. Their family began to grow in 2021 when they welcomed their daughter, Row. Then, in 2022, their family expanded further with the arrival of son Grey.

Dr. Phil and Robin adore spending time with their grandchildren, Avery, London, Row, and Grey, especially when they visit their beautiful Beverly Hills home. “They get to make anything, and I mean anything, in the kitchen,” Dr. Phil shared with a smile. “Avery’s specialty is Sprite-granola-cookie-bread-rose-petals-salt-and-pepper soup with jalapeños. But she does not eat it!”
