Kenny Rogers' Ex-Wife Opens Up About Life With The Country Legend

As we celebrate the life of a true music icon, Kenny Rogers' ex-wife, Marianne Gordon, shares heartfelt memories of their time together. Marianne spoke exclusively to Closer Weekly, reflecting on Kenny's legacy as both a husband and a man who touched countless lives. "He was an incredible person," she says, her voice filled with admiration and nostalgia.

A Journey Through Time

Marianne first crossed paths with Kenny in 1974, a meeting that would change her life forever. Their love story blossomed, leading to their marriage in 1977. In 1981, they welcomed their son, Christopher Cody Rogers, adding a new chapter to their journey together. "It's very upsetting when I start talking about him," Marianne admits, her voice trembling with emotion. "For 17 of the 21 years we were together, every single day, he was so incredibly sweet. He had this way of making me feel like I was the most important person in his world."

His Heart Always Belonged to Her

Marianne recalls the deep connection she shared with Kenny during their years together. "I always felt his total focus was on me," she says, her voice softening with fondness. "If anyone needed anything from him, he would look me straight in the eye and say, 'Whatever she wants to do.' Even as time went on, I think that when he turned 50, I didn’t have his full attention anymore, but it seemed like he still wanted me there. His life was so open, and after a while, he started feeling this longing, this craving. He told me he was having a mid-life crisis. He felt his career was fading, and that scared him."

    A Gentle Soul

Despite the insecurities Kenny faced later in life, Marianne insists he remained a joy to be around. "He was always in a good mood," she says with a smile. "He had such a wonderful sense of humor about everything. Fame didn’t change him one bit. He stayed the same Kenny I fell in love with, the one who made me feel like I was the center of his world."
