The Love Story: How Dave Coulier Met Melissa Bring

It all started in 2005 during a trip to Montana, where Dave Coulier found himself on an adventure with friends. Fate had other plans when he accidentally tripped over Melissa Bring, a professional photographer. Instead of brushing it off, the two struck up a conversation and instantly connected. Who would’ve thought that a simple stumble could lead to such a beautiful relationship?

Their connection was undeniable, and after years of friendship, they decided to tie the knot in July 2014. The wedding took place in Montana, paying homage to the place where their love story began. This marked the second marriage for Dave, who was previously married to Jayne Modean from 1990 to 1992. But this time, it felt different. Melissa brought a sense of calm and understanding that Dave had never experienced before.

Their wedding was a star-studded affair, with close friends and family in attendance, including Dave's late co-star Bob Saget, who delivered heartfelt toasts. Other Full House favorites like John Stamos, Candace Cameron Bure, and Andrea Barber were also there to celebrate the union. For Dave, marrying Melissa was a life-changing moment.

“When I first met her, I wasn’t sure I was ready for marriage,” Dave admitted to People after the wedding. “But Melissa never pushed me, and that made me want to propose even more. She’s so understanding and supportive, and when you find someone like that, you just know. Marrying your best friend is a gift, and there’s an incredible trust that comes with it.”

Home Sweet Home: Where Dave and Melissa Live

Fast forward six years, and the couple decided it was time for a new adventure: renovating their home in St. Clair Shores, Michigan. In a November 2020 interview with Closer, Dave gave us a peek into their home renovation journey.

“My wife and I moved into a home we completely remodeled right when the pandemic hit,” Dave explained. “At first, it felt like the perfect time to be stuck at home. We were tearing down walls, ripping out carpeting, and doing all sorts of construction work. It was a labor of love, and it brought us even closer together.”

For Dave, laughter has always been the key to a long-lasting relationship. “We laugh a lot,” he said. “Life throws so many curveballs—friends getting married or divorced, babies being born, family members passing away—but through it all, we’ve learned to find the silver lining by laughing. That’s what keeps us going.”

It’s terrifying and exhilarating all at once, but I can’t wait to see our dream home come to life.”

In March 2022, Dave posted a candid photo on Instagram of his bloodied face, opening up about his sobriety journey. The comedian revealed that he had been alcohol-free since January 2020, crediting Melissa for her unwavering support.

“I made a decision for my well-being and for the people I love,” he wrote. “The mental and physical withdrawal were tough, but I had the support of Melissa and friends who had walked this path before me. The transformation has been incredible. The world seems brighter, my heart feels more open, and I enjoy making people laugh more than ever. Thank you, Melissa, for being my rock. I love you.”

Melissa has been Dave’s anchor during some of the darkest moments in his life. “She’s been with me every step of the way,” he explained. “We used to enjoy a bottle of wine together every night, but now she’s stopped drinking altogether to honor my journey. She’s my biggest supporter and my partner in every sense of the word.”
