Listen up, fans of Sex and the City—this one's for you. It seems like Kristin Davis, the beloved actress behind Charlotte York Goldenblatt, has been chiming in on a conversation that's been on the minds of many SATC enthusiasts. Recently, Kristin took the time to weigh in on a fan's suggestion that maybe, just maybe, her character and Chris Noth's Mr. Big could have been a thing. Now, let's dive into this and see what Kristin had to say.
Over on Instagram, the fan account @everyoutfitonsatc sparked a lively debate about some of the greatest couples that never were in Sex and the City. This account suggested exploring pairings beyond Carrie and Big, focusing instead on other characters whose chemistry might have sparked something special. They highlighted potential couplings like Enid and Petrovsky, Steve and Carrie, Miranda and Syd, and, of course, Charlotte and Big.
View this post on InstagramTHE LOST COUPLES OF SATC Enough with Carrie and Big, today we are delving into the greatest Sex and the City couples that never were… ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1️⃣ Enid and Petrovsky – Enid had a right to be annoyed with Carrie’s mildly sus age-gap relationship, because The Russian is the ONLY man for her. They’re both career-focused and excessively highbrow. We can easily imagine them dining with Plum Sykes and Larry Gagosian or shopping for matching Goyard trunks at Barneys. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2️⃣ Steve and Carrie – Carrie should be with someone laid-back and unfussy. While not as sophisticated as Big, Steve would have shown her all the best vintage spots in Queens. THAT is true love. His chill athleisure looks would also mesh well with Carrie’s kookier ensembles. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3️⃣ Miranda and Syd – Miranda’s straight male colleague was perceptive as fuck, because this is the EXACT person that Miranda should be set up with. Syd is chill, boyishly handsome, and has the sort of Tig Notaro energy that Miranda desperately needs in her life. We ship the FUCK out of this coupling. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 4️⃣ Charlotte and Big – These two would make a truly hot couple. Given Big’s previous wives, Charlotte is his type: thin, brunette, and WASPy. Her optimism would also balance out his sociopathic finance bro tendencies. We can totally see them deciding which Ed Ruscha would look best in their pre-war apartment, before jetting off to the Hamptons.

Kristin Davis didn't shy away from offering her thoughts when fans suggested that Charlotte and Mr. Big could have been a match made in television heaven. "I personally think Big would have broken Charlotte," she candidly replied. "Though probably some fun would have been had before the inevitable downfall." Now, that's a pretty bold statement, but Kristin knows her character inside and out, so it's worth considering her perspective.
Of course, fans can't help but imagine what might have happened if Charlotte and Big had crossed paths romantically. But let's not forget, in the end, Mr. Big ended up marrying Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker, in the 2010 Sex and the City movie. Still, the idea of Charlotte and Big sparks curiosity. Interestingly, it was revealed just last month that if there had been a third SATC movie, Chris Noth's character, Mr. Big, might have been written out of the story altogether.
The possibility of Mr. Big's exit was discussed during a podcast with Michael Patrick King, one of the series' writers, who sat down with Kristin, Sarah Jessica, and Cynthia Nixon last November. Cynthia, who played Miranda Hobbes, joined the conversation as well. Interestingly, it was rumored that an early version of the script suggested Mr. Big's demise. However, Chris Noth himself shot down the rumor, telling The Sun Online, "He wasn't going to die. That was all a lie." So, it seems like Mr. Big wasn't ready to leave the spotlight just yet.
