Let’s talk about loyalty and friendship, folks. Julia Roberts recently traveled to the bustling streets of New York City to cheer on her long-time pal, George Clooney, in his latest Broadway endeavor. But she didn’t go it alone. The Oscar-winning actress brought along her husband, Danny Moder, and their youngest son, Henry Moder, creating a heartwarming family outing on Tuesday, April 1. Now that’s what I call true support!
At 57, Julia looked every bit the Hollywood icon she is as she stepped out of a cab outside the Winter Garden Theatre. Clad in a chic long black coat paired with black slacks and matching black heels, she turned heads effortlessly. A video captured by the Daily Mail shows her sporting a pair of glasses and her signature curls cascading down her shoulders. With a warm smile, she waved to fans who eagerly gathered outside the theater, clearly thrilled to catch a glimpse of the A-list star.
On the other hand, Danny Moder, 56, opted for a more casual look with a black pullover sweater, brown pants, and brown Chelsea boots, as seen in photos from the event. The cinematographer carried his coat in one arm, exuding a laid-back vibe. Their son, Henry, 17, completed the trio, rocking a stylish red leather jacket, loose-fitting jeans, a white button-down shirt, and white sneakers. It’s clear that family bonding is a top priority for the Moder clan.

Julia’s presence at the theater wasn’t just a casual visit. Her friendship with George Clooney, now 63, has spanned decades, and it’s no surprise that she’d show up to support him as he takes on the iconic role of Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck. These two Hollywood legends have worked together before, most recently in the 2022 film Ticket to Paradise, where they shared heartfelt moments both on and off-screen.
During a 2022 interview with People, George reminisced about how their friendship blossomed while filming Ocean’s Eleven back in 2000. “This was just easy,” he said, highlighting the seamless connection they formed from the start. Julia echoed his sentiments, adding, “That’s how it felt with George. You just kind of go, ‘All right’ … He’s one of my people now.” That’s the kind of bond that only grows stronger with time.
What makes their friendship so special? George puts it this way: “Listen, the thing about Julia, one of the many great qualities, is she is consistent in her loyalty and in her friendship and in her kindness.” And he’s right—true friendship isn’t about the glitz and glamour; it’s about being there for each other through thick and thin. “So if you’d ask me what’s different, I’d say that with the exception of us getting a little bit older, nothing in terms of who we are, or who you are,” George added.
After Julia and her family made their way out of the theater, George was spotted signing autographs and mingling with fans outside. It’s clear that the leading man knows how to connect with his audience both on and off the stage. To make this Broadway debut even more exciting, George temporarily relocated to NYC with his wife, Amal Clooney, and their kids, Alexander and Ella, 7. For his role, he even dyed his hair brown, bidding farewell to his signature salt and pepper locks—a decision that might have his kids laughing at him, but it’s all in good fun.
Besides Henry, Julia and Danny also share 20-year-old twins, Phinneas and Hazel Moder. The Pretty Woman actress affectionately refers to herself as “Aunt Juju” to George’s two kids, proving that family ties extend beyond bloodlines. During an October 2022 appearance on Today, Julia opened up about motherhood, sharing her candid thoughts with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager. “Sometimes I get gripped with fear of blowing it,” she admitted. “And sometimes I’ve just said to my kids, ‘So today, me as a mom? Can we just take that off the board because I blew it.’”
Reflecting on her journey, Julia expressed gratitude for meeting Danny when she was ready, and now, they both strive to be the best partners they can be for their children. “I met [Danny] when I was ready … And then we call these children into our lives when we’re ready to best partner with them,” she shared.
