From his early days as a late-night comic in the late '60s, Steve Martin has become one of Hollywood's most beloved and prolific stars. Beyond the spotlight, this Parenthood actor has built a fulfilling personal life with his second wife, Anne Stringfield. Before finding happiness with Anne, Steve was married to Victoria Tennant from 1986 to 1994. His journey of love continued, and he found true joy when he met Anne in the mid-2000s.
Steve, who plays the charming character in Only Murders in the Building, shared his heartwarming thoughts on love during a candid May 2017 interview with AARP.
“I’m incredibly happy. Life has shaped up perfectly for me. Sure, there were tough times early on—disharmony, panic, and pain—but those moments were balanced by deep affection and comedy success,” Steve said. He added, “It’s been a gradual climb towards genuine happiness, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Steve Martin has had his share of playing romantic leads in films and television. His first marriage to Victoria Tennant began after they worked together in the 1984 film All of Me. They even reunited on screen in L.A. Story, a film written by Steve himself, just three years before their marriage ended.
In a February 1991 interview with The Morning Call, Victoria recalled the early days of their relationship. “Back in England, nobody really knew who Steve was. When I told my mom I had a new boyfriend, she asked, ‘Who’s that?’ When I mentioned he was an actor named Steve Martin, there was a long silence. She said, ‘Oh, no, not an actor.’ I replied, ‘I know what you mean, Mom, but he’s better than most,’” Victoria fondly remembered.
During the same month, Steve spoke to the Los Angeles Times about what he learned about himself during his first marriage. “I always felt guilty in my relationships, thinking I was a bad boyfriend or making someone unhappy,” he confessed. “Then I met Victoria, and it was clear—it wasn’t me.”
Steve and Victoria's relationship didn’t last, but they both continued to thrive in their respective Hollywood careers. Steve was later linked to other celebrities like Bernadette Peters and Anne Heche. Meanwhile, Victoria had her own marriage before Steve, being married to Peppo Vanini from 1969 to 1976. She remarried in 1996 to Kirk Stambler after her acting career flourished in projects like The Winds of War, Scrubs, and the television movie William & Kate in 2011.
