Sly Stallone: The Truth Behind His Plastic Surgery Rumors

Listen, you’ve seen the movies. Rocky Balboa got hit in the face so many times, it’s no surprise fans are curious if Sylvester Stallone has had a little work done over the years. And now that the 71-year-old action icon made a splashy guest appearance on NBC's This Is Us, people are talking even more. So, let’s dive into the world of plastic surgery and find out what the experts have to say about this Hollywood legend.

When it comes to Sylvester Stallone, his rugged good looks and iconic jawline have been a staple of his career. But as the years have gone by, some fans have wondered if that jawline is all natural or if there’s been a little help from a surgeon's scalpel. To get to the bottom of this, Closer Weekly spoke with some of the top plastic surgeons in the biz, and they all seem to agree: Sly’s probably had a little work done along the way.

Experts Weigh In: What Procedures Has Sylvester Stallone Had?

Dr. Adam Hamawy, a leading plastic surgeon, had some interesting insights. "Sylvester Stallone definitely looks like he’s had some work done," he explained. "That jawline of his? It’s not just from years of lifting weights. A well-performed lower facelift is likely keeping it looking sharp. Plus, check out those eyes. He’s definitely had an upper and lower eyelid lift, along with a browlift. Those eyebrows are pulled so high, they almost look like they're trying to escape his forehead!"

  • Dr. Hamawy continued, "While high, arched brows can look fantastic on women, they can sometimes look a little awkward on men. It’s all about balance, and Sly’s definitely pushed the boundaries a bit. But hey, when you’re a Hollywood icon, you’ve got to do what it takes to stay looking sharp."

Dr. Andrew Miller also weighed in, adding, "If you look closely, it seems like Sylvester might have had his eyelids done, along with a browlift. The changes in his lid crease and brow height are pretty noticeable. He could have also had at least a mini facelift to keep that jawline smooth and defined. It’s all about maintaining that strong, masculine look that fans love."

Dr. Vartan Mardirossian chimed in as well, suggesting that Sylvester likely underwent an upper and lower blepharoplasty. "There’s definitely less skin on his upper and lower eyelids now," he noted. "He may have also had a necklift, since the skin and muscles of his upper neck are tight. All of these procedures were done exceptionally well, which is why he still looks so natural. Many of my middle-aged male patients go for a blepharoplasty and necklift—it’s almost like their signature move!"

    Sly’s Take on Plastic Surgery

But what does Sylvester Stallone himself have to say about all this? Back in 1992, during an interview with People magazine, he opened up about his own experiences. "Yeah, I’ve had some work done, but only on the left side of my face," he admitted. "You see, I was born with a crooked mouth, so I prefer to be photographed from my right side. People see the scar and think I’ve had a facelift, but they don’t notice that there’s no scar over here by my right ear. What do they think? That I could only afford to have half of it done?"

As for plastic surgery in general, Sylvester isn’t exactly against it. "Sure, why not?" he said with a shrug. "If you can afford to get your car detailed, why not do the same for yourself? It’s all about feeling good and looking your best, especially in this business."
