Tina Turner's Love Story: Finding True Happiness With Erwin Bach

Let me tell you a story about Tina Turner, the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll, who found love again in her later years. In 2013, she tied the knot with her second husband, Erwin Bach, a successful German music executive. When reflecting on their first meeting in the mid-1980s, Tina recalled how Erwin swept her off her feet. "He was 16 years younger, just 30 years old back then, with a face that was absolutely breathtaking," she said in a clip from the HBO documentary 'Tina,' released in March 2021. "It was like nothing I'd ever experienced before. I thought to myself, 'Where did this man come from?' He was so good-looking that my heart started racing, and my hands were shaking. It was like our souls had instantly connected."

Erwin Bach: The Love of Tina's Life

Tina often credited their relationship's success to Erwin's unique personality. Unlike many who might feel overshadowed by her fame, Erwin was never intimidated by Tina's status as a Hollywood icon. In her December 2020 book, 'Happiness Becomes You: A Guide to Changing Your Life for Good,' Tina wrote, "Erwin is a force of nature in his own right. He has shown me that true love doesn't require me to dim my light so that he can shine. Instead, we complement each other perfectly." Tina went on to explain that their bond was built on mutual encouragement. "We push each other to be the best versions of ourselves. We are the light of each other's lives, and together, we want to shine as brightly as possible," she gushed.

A Second Chance at Love

Tina felt incredibly fortunate to have found Erwin, especially after enduring a traumatic marriage to her first husband, Ike Turner. Their relationship from 1962 to 1978 was marred by abuse, making her second chance at love with Erwin even more meaningful. "Meeting Erwin was like stepping out of my comfort zone and embracing the unexpected gifts life offers," she shared candidly. "That simple first meeting at a German airport blossomed into a long, beautiful relationship, which I consider my one true marriage." Despite not having children together, Tina was already a mother to four sons—Ronnie Turner, Ike Turner Jr., Michael Turner, and her late son Craig Turner. Her eldest son, Craig, who tragically passed away in 2018, was with her former boyfriend Raymond Hill. She shared Ronnie with Ike and adopted Ike's children, Ike Jr. and Michael, from a previous relationship.

Building a Life Together

While life hasn't always been smooth sailing, Tina looked forward to every moment she experienced with Erwin by her side. "After all the chaos, she's built the life she's always dreamed of," a close friend told Closer Weekly in 2017. "She's worked hard enough to look forward to the future." Tina's legacy of love and resilience continued to inspire millions worldwide. Unfortunately, Tina passed away at the age of 83 on May 24, 2023. Her official Instagram page shared a heartfelt statement: "It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Tina Turner. With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly."
