Tom Selleck Talks About The Future Of Jesse Stone Amid Blue Bloods Wrap-Up

Since wrapping up filming on season 14 of Blue Bloods over the summer, Tom Selleck's schedule has opened up a bit more. And let’s be honest, fans are now eagerly waiting to see if this iconic actor will bring one of his most beloved characters back to life—Jesse Stone. The question on everyone’s mind is, will we see another Jesse Stone movie anytime soon?

Tom Selleck Spills the Beans on Jesse Stone’s Return

During a candid interview with Parade on Friday, December 6, the legendary actor, now 79 years young, was asked point-blank if another Jesse Stone movie is in the works. Tom didn’t hesitate to share his thoughts on the matter, giving fans a sneak peek into what might be brewing behind the scenes.

“I haven’t started working on it yet,” Tom admitted frankly. “But you know, it would definitely be an intriguing challenge because Jesse is older now. There’s been quite a bit of time since the last movie aired. That doesn’t mean, however, that Jesse Stone isn’t still a compelling and viable character. In fact, wherever I go, one of the most common questions I get is, ‘When can we see another Jesse Stone?’ It’s clear that people love this character just as much as they ever did.”

The last time we saw Tom Selleck as Jesse Stone was in the 2015 film Jesse Stone: Lost in Paradise. For over a decade, Tom has been embodying this character, bringing him to life in nine films since 2005. Alongside his role as Frank Reagan on Blue Bloods, which he started in 2010, Tom has built a legacy that fans simply can’t get enough of. Despite the success of Blue Bloods, the calls for another Jesse Stone movie have never stopped ringing in his ears.

Tom’s Thoughts on Writing the Next Jesse Stone Movie

Before the second half of season 14 of Blue Bloods aired on CBS, Tom was asked about the possibility of another Jesse Stone film. His response revealed a lot about his current mindset and plans.

“It seems like I might have to take the reins and write the script for the next movie myself,” Tom told TV Insider back in October. “This wouldn’t be the end of the story because, let’s face it, everyone loves Jesse Stone. He’s such a remarkable character, and it would be fascinating to explore where he is now, after all these years. But first, I need to take a step back and regroup. I’m not entirely sure what’s next, but as long as the phone keeps ringing, I’ll keep working. The possibilities are endless!”

Saying goodbye to Blue Bloods hasn’t been easy for Tom or the rest of the Reagan family. Yet, for the fans, there’s still hope as two more episodes are set to air, promising a fitting conclusion to this beloved police procedural drama.

“How I’m feeling is an ongoing process,” Tom confessed during Blue Bloods: Celebrating a Family Legacy on November 29. “After working on the show for 14 years, it becomes a huge part of your life. Of course, I miss my Blue Bloods family. It’s like losing a piece of yourself.”

Fans React to the End of Blue Bloods

It’s not just Tom who’s feeling the loss. Fans of Blue Bloods are pouring out their hearts on social media, pleading for the show to continue in some form or another.
