Let’s talk about 'Severance,' shall we? The show has fans completely hooked, especially after the mind-blowing season 2 finale. Mark S. was torn between two relationships—one with Helly R. and another with his wife, Gemma. It left viewers on the edge of their seats, wondering what’s next. The big question on everyone's mind now is whether there will be a season 3 to continue this gripping narrative.
In case you missed it, Apple TV+ dropped some exciting news in March 2025. 'Severance' has officially been renewed for a third season. This announcement has sent shockwaves through the fanbase, and it’s easy to see why. The show has been breaking records and racking up awards left and right, so it’s no surprise that Apple decided to bring it back for more.
According to the official press release, "All appears to be well at Lumon Industries." It goes on to highlight the success of the second season, which became the most-watched series on Apple TV+. The show has also earned prestigious awards like the Emmy and Peabody Awards, cementing its status as a global phenomenon.

Executive producer and director Ben Stiller couldn’t hide his excitement about the renewal. In a statement, he said, "Making 'Severance' has been one of the most creatively exciting experiences I’ve ever been a part of. Now, here’s the twist—I don’t actually remember making it. But I’m told that season 3 will be just as thrilling, though any memory of these future events will be wiped clean from my mind forever. Isn’t that ironic?"
Adam Scott, who plays the lead character Mark S., also chimed in with his thoughts. "I couldn’t be more thrilled to dive back into this world with Ben, Dan, and the entire 'Severance' team," he said. "By the way, if you happen to run into my innie, don’t say a word about any of this to him. Thanks in advance!"
Joining Scott in the cast are Britt Lower, Tramell Tillman, Zach Cherry, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, John Turturro, Christopher Walken, and Patricia Arquette. Each of these actors brings something unique to the table, making 'Severance' a must-watch for fans of psychological thrillers.
Let’s face it, waiting three years for season 2 after the jaw-dropping season 1 finale was torture. So naturally, everyone’s wondering if we’ll have to endure another long wait for season 3. Showrunner Dan Erickson addressed this concern in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.
"I’d love to finish this show before I hit 70," Dan joked. "We’re hoping to get season 3 out sooner. The delay between seasons 1 and 2 was partly due to strikes that halted production for around five or six months. It’s different from the shutdown during season 1 because of Covid, where I was still writing. This time, it was pencils down. I made a conscious effort to avoid even thinking about the scripts during that time."
Dan went on to explain, "We’ve always been meticulous about how we tell the story. That was true for season 1, and it carried over to season 2. People weren’t waiting for season 1 back then, so the long wait didn’t feel as noticeable. Now, we understand the process better and know how to streamline things, so we’re committed to not making fans wait three years again. Trust me, we don’t want to prolong the agony!"

At PaleyFest LA in March 2025, Dan also revealed that work on season 3 is already underway. "I’ve had to distance myself a little from the online chatter because we’re deep into planning season 3," he said. "It’s exciting to see how passionate the fans are about the show. It feels like we’ve been guarding this secret for years, and now it’s finally being shared with the world. It’s a blast to watch people discover it."
