Back in November 2018, Morning Joe cohosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski tied the knot, marking a major milestone in their lives. But here's the twist: their colleague Willie Geist, who you'd think would be front and center at such a special event, didn’t make it. Now, the big question on everyone's mind: Is their marriage still going strong?
Let me take you back to 2007, when Mika Brzezinski joined Morning Joe alongside Joe Scarborough, creating the dynamic duo we've all grown to love—or at least respect. Willie Geist stepped in as the third cohost, adding his own charm and energy to the mix. But as Willie's responsibilities on Today grew, the spotlight naturally shifted back to Joe and Mika. Over the years, their chemistry became undeniable, and by 2016, whispers began circulating that there might be more to their relationship than just professional camaraderie.
Fast forward to May 2017, and the pair made history by announcing their engagement live on-air during an episode of Morning Joe. The moment was nothing short of iconic. Joe popped the question while the two were on vacation in Antibes, France—a romantic gesture that seemed to encapsulate the essence of their love story.

Mika later shared her reaction to the proposal during an interview with Vanity Fair: “When I saw him on one knee, I started laughing nervously, almost hysterically. And then he asked, and I said, ‘Absolutely.’” That moment wasn’t just a personal triumph—it was a testament to the deep connection they’d built over the years.
Just a month later, Willie Geist chimed in with his thoughts on his two co-stars' blossoming romance. Speaking on an episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, he said, “You had two single people, I think they always had a good relationship, they always had good chemistry, so I was not surprised by it. I was happy for them.”
In November 2018, Joe and Mika officially became Mr. and Mrs. Scarborough in a small, intimate ceremony at the National Archives in Washington, D.C. Unfortunately, Willie couldn’t attend due to "work commitments," as NBC explained. The couple decided to keep the wedding low-key, inviting only family and close friends. As Mika told Vanity Fair at the time, “We wanted it to be really small and simple and not what you expected from Mika and Joe. Everything we do is exposed, and everything felt exposed every step of the way, so we wanted this to be private until it’s over.”
Joe and Mika both bring their own families into the mix, having children from previous marriages. Joe has four kids: Joey and Andrew from his first marriage to Melanie Hinton (1986–1999), and Kate and Jack from his second marriage to Susan Waren (2001–2013). Mika, on the other hand, is the proud mother of two daughters, Carlie and Emilie, whom she shares with her ex-husband Jim Hoffer. Their marriage lasted from 1993 to 2016.
Yes, Joe and Mika are still together, though they’ve faced some challenges along the way. Relationships, especially ones involving high-profile careers, can be tough, and the duo hasn’t been immune to that reality.
According to a source speaking to In Touch in April 2024, “Mika has reached her limit with Joe’s constant interruptions during their show, Morning Joe, and in their personal lives. This frustration culminated in a dramatic confrontation that has affected both their professional dynamic and their relationship.”

Things escalated further in July 2024 when MSNBC bosses had to intervene after the couple bickered on set. During a June 2024 episode of Morning Joe, Joe addressed Mika’s frustration, saying, “Mika, everybody’s calm here. You’re the only one raising your voice. Everybody is calm here.”
“The bosses have been forced to intervene to correct course,” the insider revealed. “Their couple’s banter has gone from adorable to annoying. Even guests complain how uncomfortable they are on set when those two are fighting! The fear is that with the election coming up, these two will get worse!”
In July 2024, Joe spoke out about his dissatisfaction when NBC pulled his broadcast following breaking news. He expressed his frustration, saying, “We were told, in no uncertain terms on Sunday evening that there was going to be one news feed across all NBC news channels yesterday. That did not happen. We were also told it was going to happen throughout the day, and I guess, after there was such a strong blowback about yesterday morning, I guess they changed their plans.”
“We were very surprised. We were very disappointed. And if we had known that there wasn’t going to be the one news feed, from NBC news across all NBC news channels, Willie, we obviously would have been in yesterday morning,” he continued.
Mika chimed in, emphasizing that Morning Joe is “the place where you can go to have the hard conversations in a civil way.” Joe concluded with a firm statement: “Let me just say, next time we’re told there’s going to be a news feed replacing us, we will be in our chairs. The news feed will be us, or they can get somebody else to host the show.”
