When you think of Justin Hartley, you might picture him as Kevin Pearson on the hit NBC show "This Is Us." But behind the scenes, Justin is more than just a talented actor—he’s a dedicated father to his daughter, Isabella. Let’s dive into his real-life journey as a dad and the bond he shares with his daughter.
In the real world, Justin Hartley's journey as a father began long before his acting career skyrocketed. On July 3, 2004, Justin welcomed his only child, Isabella, with his then-wife Lindsay Korman. The couple had tied the knot just a year earlier, creating a beautiful family. Unfortunately, their marriage ended in 2012 due to "irreconcilable differences." Despite the split, Justin and Lindsay have maintained a strong co-parenting relationship, proving that love for their daughter transcends any challenges.
For Justin, co-parenting isn't just about splitting responsibilities—it’s about understanding and communication. In an interview with Us Weekly, Justin opened up about what makes co-parenting successful. “Communication and an understanding of where everyone’s coming from are key,” he explained. “Even though you can’t fully step into someone else’s shoes, making the effort to understand is crucial.” Justin praised Lindsay for her resourcefulness and the positive role she plays in their daughter's life. “I’m thankful for all the help I get from my ex-wife, Lindsay,” he shared. “And let’s not forget, Isabella herself is the heart of this family. She’s the one making everything work. She deserves all the credit.”

Life has taken Justin on many paths, including two more marriages. He tied the knot with actress Chrishell Stause in October 2017, though they parted ways in November 2019. In 2021, Justin found love again with Sofia Pernas. Through it all, Isabella remains the center of his world. As she grew older, Justin joked about the challenges of parenting a teenage daughter. “She’s dating a little now, and I just want to crawl into a hole and die,” he joked on The Tonight Show. “I know it’s natural and healthy, but as a dad, it’s tough. She’s wonderful, sweet, responsible, and has earned my trust, but I still struggle with it.”
Justin’s protective side shines through when it comes to Isabella. “I loved her first, man,” he told the host. But no matter what, Justin will always hold a special place in Isabella’s life. “She’s my best friend,” he shared, highlighting the deep bond they share.
Even as Isabella grows up and enjoys her teenage years, she and Justin make time for each other. “We do everything from reading to surfing Instagram,” Justin once told Us Weekly. “We go for walks, play basketball, swim, and go for drives. There’s not much we don’t do together.”
“It’s amazing. I feel so lucky to have a daughter who I believe can tell me everything,” he continued. “She might not share every single detail, but I think she knows she can. That was always my goal. She’s my best friend.”
In November 2022, Justin reflected on Isabella’s transition to college at the University of California, Santa Cruz. “It’s tough when they leave,” he admitted during an appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show. “You think you’re ready because as they grow older, they gain independence. They have their own friends and interests, and you can visit them. But when they’re really gone, it’s different. It’s mostly texts now, and let’s be honest, as an 18-year-old, she’s not picking up the phone much. I hate it, but it’s normal.”
He also shared a funny story about teaching Isabella to drive on Late Night with Seth Meyers in February 2021. “I was in the car, she was driving, and I was feeling pretty relaxed,” Justin recalled. “As I was eating gummy bears like a kid, I looked up and realized we were cruising through a red light. It was reckless, but we made it through safely!”
