Tony Danza Shares Heartwarming Insights On Life As A Grandfather

Let’s talk about Tony Danza, shall we? The beloved actor has taken on a new role in life that's got him reflecting deeply—and it's not one you'd expect. From boss to grandfather? That’s right. Tony Danza is opening up about what it feels like to be a granddad, and it’s turning out to be quite the emotional journey.

At a recent celebration for Patsy’s Italian Restaurant's 75th anniversary, Tony Danza shared some candid thoughts about this new chapter in his life. The event was nothing short of glamorous, featuring a dazzling gala held on September 23. When asked if fatherhood was still on his mind, Tony, the star of "Who's the Boss," said with a chuckle, “No, it’s grandfatherhood now! Yes, I’ve moved beyond just being a dad.” And as it turns out, he’s diving headfirst into this role, even doing some babysitting these days.

Tony admitted that becoming a grandfather is a profound experience, one that comes with its own set of challenges. “It’s incredible to watch your son father his own kids, especially when he’s doing a much better job than I did,” Tony confessed. “It’s kind of terrifying, if I’m being honest.” Tony went on to share a poignant memory about his own parenting style. “I remember telling my son Marc, ‘You know what the difference is between you and me as a father? You take your kids out to play baseball. Back in the day, I used to take you to watch me play baseball.’ And at the end of the game, I’d always ask, ‘How did I do?’”

Tony is determined to build a strong relationship with his grandsons, Lucas and Nicholas, who are the pride and joy of his only son Marc. “I want to be the kind of grandfather who takes his grandson fishing—the guy he looks forward to spending time with,” Tony revealed in a previous interview with Grandparents.com. He couldn’t be prouder of Marc and the way he’s raising his children.

Tony expressed his admiration for Marc’s parenting skills, saying, “I have so much respect for how he handles himself with his kids. It makes me incredibly proud. Even before Nicky was born, I was proud of the man Marc had become. Watching them interact is pure joy. Just the other day, they were playing Steamroller on the bed. Nicky was jumping over Marc as he rolled around. It was magical. I feel so lucky to live close enough to be a part of it all.”
