They chose to raise her on their picturesque California ranch, a place where Hannah discovered her passion for horseback riding. • Even as Hannah has grown into an adult, Tom continues to embrace his role as a father with open arms. Drawing inspiration from his character, Frank Reagan, on Blue Bloods, Tom shared in a September 2018 interview with Parade, “You never stop being a dad, even though your kids are grown. There aren’t many strong examples of patriarchs trying to do the right thing on television. I believe fathers play a crucial role.”

Tom cherishes the time he spends with his family, staying grounded and private despite his fame. In a 2020 conversation with People, he revealed, “I’m a fairly private person. I’ve always valued the balance between my work and the time I spend with my family. They are my priority, always.”

Hannah Selleck’s Educational Journey: Staying Close to Home

Hannah completed her education at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, graduating in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. Her decision to stay close to home was driven by her love for horse riding. In a 2015 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Hannah explained, “Even when I went to college, I decided to stay close so I could continue training as an equestrian.”

She elaborated on her college experience, saying, “I would go ride five or six times a week still, and from Marina del Rey to the farm was about an hour and a half. I was always juggling it even through college. It was a challenge, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”

Hannah shared her experience post-college, explaining that she initially pursued a career in public relations but quickly realized her true passion lay with horses. She said, “When I finished college, I thought I might want a career that would support me to ride at a high level as an amateur. I got a job at a public relations firm — as an internship — and I worked there for a bit, maybe six months, in Beverly Hills. That was the first time that I had been away from the horses, and I was miserable. I was only able to ride on the weekends, and that was a huge shock. After that, I realized I have to do the horses, so I quit the PR job.”

Hannah’s love for horse riding started at a young age, and she began her formal training at Foxfield Riding School in Westlake Village, California, an esteemed equestrian academy. Reflecting on her upbringing, she told Equestrian Living, “Because [my parents are] both artists, they believe in the idea that you have to be very passionate about what you do to be successful. They encouraged me to be passionate about it and immersed in it, and from there it was kind of on me how much I wanted it. They always let me take the lead. If I wanted to move barns or trainers, that was my decision.”

However, her resilience and determination shone through as she shared with Modern Luxury Palm Beach in January 2022, “I worked with an energy healer and we worked on a lot of guided meditations and visualizations. My visualization was imagining myself and my horse in a protective white light, and that we were protected over the jumps, the whole course. The next competition, I remember thinking, ‘I don’t know if this is going to work, but we’ll give it a try.’ We went in and that fear started to come up; I could feel it. I just closed my eyes for a minute and envisioned this white light and rode really well.”

In 2010, Hannah founded Descanso Farms, a prestigious training and sales operation dedicated to raising high-caliber show horses. The Descanso Farms website highlights her vision: “Hannah Selleck laid the foundation for Descanso Farm in 2010 after retiring her Grand Prix mare, Tosca van Het Lamboroek. Tosca’s first foal arrived in 2012 and was the catalyst for Selleck’s visionary endeavor to build Descanso Farm into a world-class breeding
