Julie Chen Opens Up About Her Plastic Surgery Journey: A Story Of Heritage And Self-Acceptance

In the world of television, few stars have been as candid about their plastic surgery journey as Julie Chen, the beloved co-host of The Talk. But have you ever wondered what Julie looked like before she went under the knife? During a candid episode of her talk show, Julie shared her deeply personal story about a surgical procedure she underwent more than two decades ago to enhance the appearance of her eyes. She revealed that she was once told during a TV reporting gig that she looked “bored,” which prompted her to consider cosmetic surgery.

Reflecting on the decision, Julie admitted it wasn’t easy. “It was a huge conversation with my parents and me,” she explained. “We talked about whether getting the surgery would mean denying my heritage. Despite the family turmoil, Julie remained steadfast in her decision. “No one is prouder of being Chinese than I am,” she emphasized. “I’ve always embraced my heritage, and I have to live with the choices I’ve made. Every choice I’ve made has led me to where I am today, and I’m not going to look back. It’s part of my journey.”

Plastic Surgery Experts Weigh In

While Julie insists that her only procedure was the eye surgery, some plastic surgery experts believe there may have been more enhancements. Dr. Adam Hamawy, who has never treated Julie but analyzed her appearance, told Closer Weekly that he doesn’t think she’s had any recent plastic surgery. However, he noted that Julie might have had a rhinoplasty in the past to add projection and definition to her nose, as well as eyelid surgery to make her eyes appear wider and more alert.

Opinions From Other Experts

Dr. Andrew Miller, another plastic surgery expert who has never treated Julie, suggests that she might simply be aging gracefully. He believes she could have used a little filler in her cheeks to maintain a youthful appearance. “Compared to years ago, it looks like she may have had rhinoplasty to make her nose appear thinner,” he told Closer.

Dr. Vartan Mardirossian, yet another expert who has never treated Julie, noted that she might have undergone a refinement of the dorsum of her nose using crushed cartilage or other techniques. “Her nose appears more raised and refined, and her tip is also more defined,” he explained. Regarding her cheekbones, Dr. Mardirossian observed, “There’s more contour to her cheeks, which is noticeable even when she smiles.”

Regardless of whether Julie has had additional procedures, one thing is certain: she’s a stunning and inspiring figure in the world of entertainment. Plastic surgery or not, Julie Chen remains a true beauty both inside and out.
